Eric H.T.D. Nguyen, B.A (Hons), J.D.
Barrister, Solicitor & Notary Public
eric@nguyenlawoffice.com
Even as a child, he knew that the legal profession is more than just an obsession, but a way of life. Upon graduating grade 8, from Second Street Junior Middle School, he made a promise in the school’s year-book to “See everyone at Osgoode Hall”, and in keeping with his promise, he graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2001.
Barely into his first year of law school, the Canadian Bar Association requested his participation in the Vietnamese-Canadian Legal Exchange Program as member of the hosting delegation to facilitate the learning of the Ontario Legal Aid Plan by a delegate of Vietnamese Judges and legal practitioners.
During his stay at Osgoode Hall Law School, one of his most memorable involvement was with the Innocence Project. Directed by the late Professor Diane Martin, this organization is dedicated to the upholding of the Canadian justice and legal system through the representation of those who have wrongfully been convicted and have exhausted all means of appeal. Even prior to his graduation, Eric was already actively involved in the legal community.
When Eric completed his legal studies, he articled with Miller, Maki, Barristers & Solicitors, a small law firm which specializes in insurance litigation. Under the direction of his principal, Mr. Michael P. O’Hara, he credits his work ethics through his experience at Miller, Maki. In October 2002, Eric opened Nguyen Law Office to serve the ever growing Vietnamese Community in the Greater Toronto Area.
When he is not practicing, Eric volunteers his time with the Metro Chinese & Southeast Asian Legal Clinic. He is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association, the Real Estate Lawyers Association, the Peel Lawyers Association, and the Young Lawyers Association.
Rewritten
From a young age, Eric knew that the legal profession was more than just a career—it was his calling. After graduating from Second Street Junior Middle School, he made a promise in the yearbook: “See everyone at Osgoode Hall.” True to his word, Eric earned his Bachelor of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2001.
During his first year of law school, the Canadian Bar Association invited Eric to participate in the Vietnamese-Canadian Legal Exchange Program. As part of the hosting delegation, he facilitated the learning of the Ontario Legal Aid Plan for Vietnamese judges and legal practitioners.
At Osgoode Hall, Eric’s most memorable involvement was with the Innocence Project. Under the guidance of the late Professor Diane Martin, he championed justice by representing those wrongfully convicted and exhausted all avenues of appeal—even before his graduation.
After completing his legal studies, Eric articled with Miller, Maki, Barristers & Solicitors—a boutique firm specializing in insurance litigation. Working under the mentorship of Mr. Michael P. O’Hara, Eric honed his work ethic and legal skills. In 2002, he founded Nguyen Law Office, dedicated to serving Toronto’s growing Vietnamese community.
Beyond the courtroom, Eric volunteers at the Metro Chinese & Southeast Asian Legal Clinic. He’s an active member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association, the Real Estate Lawyers Association, the Peel Lawyers Association, and the Young Lawyers Association.
Eric’s commitment to justice and community shines brightly in every case he handles. Reach out to him at eric@nguyenlawoffice.com for expert legal assistance!
